LED and T5 combo light

Post by sambrinar*mod* on Mon May 04, 2009 10:56 am

Hello all, I just had someone, Ricky, ask me about LED light fixtures. I have a 75 Gal tank with this light from Catilina Aquarium, a US based company, they make custom lighting and I Beta tested this light for them... Excellent BTW.. originally I had PC's over the tank, that came with it.. yuck.. here are some comparisons for you

Those are some nice looking lights you got there. I just went to their website and was truly shocked at the low prices they are charging for led fixtures. Thanks for sharing that bit of information.

You bet, I am extremely happy with these lights, they don't heat up the tank very much at all

I'm in the process of collecting the bits and pieces for another tank and have been keeping my eyes on the various local classifieds on the www for some inexpensive lighting but I may just order up one of those fixtures. I really like what I see in the well documented pics you posted of the different lighting combinations. I've been following a discussion on another forum I visit about DIY led lighting and these fixtures are coming in cheaper than the prices people are quoting for the costs of their DIY led fixtures. They have a ittle more punch than these fixtures but They look like a pain to assemble.

The fixture is reasonable price and good shape.
I guess the LED bulb output around 0.5W only.
Unfortunely, I looking for a high output LED (3W).

If you decide to order these lights, if there is a place mention that I referred you (sambrinar) or Brenda... I am a personal friend of the owner of the site.. I don't know if that will give you a discount.. but it is worth a try!!

Even if it didn't allow for a discount, It's great to know that you're friends with the owner for simple piece of mind when ordering from an unknown website retailer.
