Funny thing, your comments on the green brain not opening Mike!
I have one as well. When I had it in my 90 gallon display it wouldn't open at all. Didn't matter where I put it in the tank (up, down, high light, low light area, high flow, low flow, totally sheltered). After months of dicking about with it I decided one day to move it to my Bio-Cube which I affectionately refer to as "the toilet" due to ongoing nitrate issues. You wouldn't believe the change Shocked Within a day it opened totally and became nothing short of impressive. Having a hard time believing that this brain could transform so radically in the Cubes crappy water condition and being somewhat curious I moved the brain back to the 90 after a week and it closed up tighter than a frogs butt and stayed that way until I moved it back to the cube a month later. I also have a pink brain (posted above) in my 90 that stays open and looks decent. Again curious I moved the Pink to the Cube. It closed tight and stayed that way for a month. Moved it back to the 90 and BINGO, opened to its former state the next day. During my mini experiment I did not alter water parameters in either tank. The only differences between the two were the lighting (PC on the cube, T5 on the 90) and nitrates (~20 in the cube, undetectable in the 90).
Strange eh? Question
