Hippo tang Empty Hippo tang

Post by StuKatz Mon Jan 19, 2009 2:27 pm

Hello

Thanks again for all the help on my cyciling queston.

Now that my tank has been running for 5 weeks I'd like to add a Hippo to go with my 2 clowns(the kids really want a Dory)

From all the research I'ver been doing it sounds like my 55 gal is too small for a full grown Hippo, so I'm planning on getting a small one (maybe 2 inches) and when it starts to out grow my tank in a year or two- trade it in to my LFS for a smaller one and possibly store credit. Does this sound like a good plan?

Hey Stukatz,

This is possible, but IMHO I would advise against it. A lot of fish will become stressed once there tank is not large enough for them, this will lead to ich which could be passed on to other fish. There are tons of nice fish for a 55 gallon that you won't have to worry about catching later on.
