new tangs/ hardware

Post by Slough Shark on Thu Apr 30, 2009 11:30 pm

first 2 pics are my new hardware. A hydor 600 skimmer and a new sump tank.
the skimmer is working like a champ, all sorts of bubbles and lots of skimmate started. Should have some skimmate ready to drink by tomorrow who ever is interested.
The sump tank is a custom design with a fuge in the front and a large return at the back. I Dont have an ATO and hated filling the return every day, so hoping this helps.

the next three pics are my new tangs. Picked 3 of the up from a guy who was ripping down his tank.

well thats it for now. If you notice at the back there is a small SPS frag. The guy who I bought the Tangs from gave me this.I find myself slowly starting to lean toward these things as oppossed to the LPS. Looks like we will be talking Dosing soon Matt! However, I plan to let my tank cycle for a month or so anyhow.
Thats all Folks!

Your tank and set up look great, WTG. Great idea letting the tank catch up with the new additions. I'm curious about your sump Pic though, I dont see a union on the outlet side of your pump and was wondering how you plan on easily removing it for periodic maintenance and cleaning?

just behind the display tank there are 2 gate valves, one on the inlet and one on the out. It;'s sort of a PITA but can be done. Perhaps a little more planning in the beginning I could have avoided all of this. Oh well, live and learn.
what does WTG mean?

WTG = Way To Go (ie. Nice Job)
I always try and make things as easy as possible for myself when it comes to being able to service or clean equipment or else I'm not as likely to do it as often as I should.....I'm a great procrastinator according to me wife.

Must be the new invisible see through model of canopy, all I see is a light fixture.
I'm sure it was just a typo...lol

been away for a while

Post by Slough Shark on Thu Aug 06, 2009 11:42 pm

been working like crazy, but managing to keep up on the maintenance.
Still into the LPS, softies and inverts, fish, ect... Not really interested in all the dosing at this point, perhaps in the winter when I slow down.

Tank is looking really nice Derek. Looks like the clowns are loving the anthelia.
Love the blue shrooms and the clam.
