Advice on clean-up crew Empty Advice on clean-up crew

Post by tsrfish Fri Mar 27, 2009 7:30 pm

I'm looking to get a cleanup crew for my 110 display + 35 sump. I already have about 5 hermits (1 zebra/left handed, 2 blue, and 2 mexican), 5 nassarius snails, and 5 trochus snails plus a few stomatella.

Any recommendations for where to purchase cleanup crews?

Also, any advice on the mix of crabs and snails (how many, what types)? I'm planning on doing a reef tank with some fish.

Thanks,

Tsrfish

For me its snails or hermits not both...and I find the snails to be of greater benefit. I think you should be at least double your snail count. I like turbos, nassarius, astrea, cerith.

i have to disagree with you cookieman Smile i think as long as you keep extra shells in the tank the hermits will leave the snails alone, thats what i found at least

Question, where can you buy extra shells for the hermits, I don't live anywhere near an ocean in fact I am surrounded by the great lakes. I was at my LFS (petland) and I didn't see extra real estate for crabs. Any suggestions.

Petland is great for freshwater stuff but I've never found them to useful when it comes to saltwater. What part of the world are you located in?
May be able to better direct you with this information.
