Re: HOW MUCH ROCK IS 2 MUCH
I would say to go with about 90lbs tops(1-1/2 lbs to 2 lbs/gallon.....1 lb to 1-1/2 lbs is probably better), too much rock takes away from the swimming room as well as drops the amount of water in the tank significantly......gives LOTS of hiding places though. Put in 135 lbs of rock, then pull it all out and you'll probably be left with about 1/2 a tank of water. I put about 140-150 lbs of live rock into a 40g tank to cure the rock and the tank was just about ALL rock! Just a small amount of water evaporation and there was rock sticking out of the water. That's just my experience/opinion though.

Re: HOW MUCH ROCK IS 2 MUCH
are you going to put in a sand bed or are you going B/B?
Plus I would have to agree with 300gallonacrylic on the 2 lbs/gallon

Re: HOW MUCH ROCK IS 2 MUCH
putting in a sand bed but not as much as they say @ GARF
http://www.garf.org/bulletproofreef/BulletProof.asp I think 100llb of sand is way too much for a 45g tank

Re: HOW MUCH ROCK IS 2 MUCH
going with #2 just have to build my egg cart bottom with pipe that should take up over a inch glass only 14 inches high so with 2 inches of sand that only leaves me about 10 inches of viewing maybe should of started with a taller tank lol
